Dover Select Board approves accounting firm, appoints acting Town Accountant

DOVER — March 31, 2025 — Dover Select Board approves accounting firm and finalizes annual town meeting warrant in ad hoc session. The two-member board — Chair Robin Hunter and member Dave Havland — voted unanimously at a March 31 Zoom meeting to approve a month-to-month municipal services agreement with Aponte & Aponte, expanding the firm's role from accounts payable to all town accounting functions amid a staffing emergency in the accounting office. The board separately appointed Jared Aponte as acting Town Accountant, giving him full authority to perform the role. The board also approved the May 5 annual town meeting warrant as amended, adding Proposition 2 1/2 debt-exclusion option language to the municipal and regional capital articles — a change that gives a Select Board working group roughly two weeks to decide whether to place an override question on the annual town election ballot. A previously omitted Planning Board seat, created by a mid-term resignation, was also added to the election warrant after staff member Carol Lisbon caught the omission during a same-morning review.
