Dover Select Board unanimously approves rear-lot site for DPW fuel island

DOVER — December 9, 2025 — Dover Select Board unanimously clears site for a roughly $1.7 million DPW fuel island replacement at the town garage. The 3-0 vote by Chair Robin Hunter, Dave Havlin, and Cam Hudson on December 9 authorizes only the location — the rear of 2 Denim Street — not construction, which still requires town meeting approval after reviews by the Capital Budget and Warrant committees. Engineers Jesse O'Donnell and Tyler Coughlin of Weston and Samson presented a two-year siting study, citing expired 1994 tanks, an AT&T easement conflict, and newly discovered "diesel bugs" in the aging diesel tanks as driving the urgency. Four abutters on Meeting House Hill Road called for a deferred vote and broader site alternatives study, with resident Justine Kent urging "a really public meeting with a lot more outreach." The board also voted unanimously to approve a professional services agreement with Woodard and Curran for the bidding and construction administration phase of the Denim Street Culvert Replacement, a project backed by a $500,000 state one-stop grant.
