Dover Select Board Makes Four-Day Town Hall Work Week Permanent Starting January

DOVER — November 20, 2025 — Dover Select Board unanimously made the town's four-day work week permanent and set a cost-of-living raise range for non-union staff. The board voted 3-0 at its November 20 meeting to keep town offices closed on Fridays and open until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning January 1, 2026, following a trial launched in May that Town Administrator Mike Reardon said produced zero resident complaints. The board also voted 3-0 to approve a fiscal year 2027 cost-of-living adjustment of 2.75 to 3 percent for non-union employees — below the Personnel Board's recommended 3.25 to 5 percent range — with the final figure tied to the town's finalized budget; the 3 percent figure will be used as a planning placeholder. Additional 3-0 votes set the 2026 Annual Town Meeting warrant open from November 20 through January 8, awarded a heating oil contract to Holliston Oil Service at 19.5 cents over market for the period through June 2027, and renewed common victualler licenses for American Legion Post 209 and Dunkin' Donuts. The board deferred action on a $1,000-per-year Mass Energize clean-energy platform, directing the Sustainability Committee to return with an implementation proposal.
