Dover has declared a Level 1 Mild Drought, restricting nonessential outdoor water use to once a week between 5 p.m. and 9 a.m., town officials said, as Dover continues working through what it describes as ongoing water quality challenges.
TOWN HALL
Dover has declared a Level 1 Mild Drought, and town officials are asking residents to limit nonessential outdoor water use to once per week, between 5 p.m. and 9 a.m., until the declaration is lifted, according to a town of Dover News Flash alert.
The declaration comes as the town continues to work through what officials are calling Dover's water quality challenges. A second public information session with Aquarion Water Company is planned to evaluate options for addressing those challenges; the session is folded into a Board of Selectmen meeting scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to noon, according to the town calendar.
Two town committees are also seeking resident input this month. The Tree Preservation Committee is asking Dover residents to help shape priorities for a tree preservation project, and the Housing Task Force is circulating an anonymous survey to gauge housing needs, preferences and opportunities in town as it prepares its Housing Development Study and Plan.
Separately, Dover Parks and Recreation reported Sunday morning that all multi-purpose fields at Chickering and Caryl Playfields, including the Chickering baseball field and the Caryl Park softball diamond, are open with caution, a status the department said stands until further notice.
