West Nile Virus Confirmed in Mosquitoes Trapped in Dover
Health officials confirmed West Nile virus in mosquitoes trapped in Dover, prompting new guidance from the Board of Health as the town continues to manage a Level 2 drought declaration.

The Dover Board of Health confirmed that mosquitoes trapped in town have tested positive for West Nile virus. Officials are urging residents to take precautions, including using insect repellent, wearing long sleeves during dusk and dawn hours when mosquitoes are most active, and eliminating standing water around properties where mosquitoes can breed.
The confirmation comes as the town continues to navigate its Level 2 Significant Drought declaration, which restricts nonessential outdoor watering to hand-held hoses or watering cans only, and only between 5 p.m. and 9 a.m.
The Board of Selectmen is scheduled to meet twice this week, Thursday, August 6, and Monday, August 10, according to the town's online calendar.
