Dover sets Oct. 29 tax classification hearing
The Dover Board of Selectmen will hold a remote FY27 Tax Classification Hearing on Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. to set how the tax levy is divided among property classes and whether to grant a residential or small commercial exemption.
The Town of Dover announced Oct. 22 that the Board of Selectmen will hold a remote Tax Classification Hearing on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6:30 p.m.
The hearing, required under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 40, Section 56, will determine what percentage of the local tax levy for fiscal year 2027 will be paid by each class of real property and by personal property. The board will also decide whether to grant a residential or small commercial exemption.
The town noted this vote must be taken before the tax rate is set and bills are sent out.
The Selectmen are urging interested residents to attend the hearing to share their views on the issue. Because the meeting will be held remotely, instructions for public participation will be posted on the Board of Selectmen's Oct. 29 meeting agenda, available on [the town's website](www.doverma.gov) 48 hours before the meeting.
