Dover Declares Level 2 Drought, Limits Outdoor Watering

DATELINE — DOVER

The Town of Dover has declared a Level 2 Significant Drought, restricting nonessential outdoor water use townwide to hand-held hoses or watering cans, and only before 9 a.m. or after 5 p.m.

TOWN HALL

Town officials announced the Level 2 drought declaration this week, tightening rules on lawn and garden watering across Dover. Under the restriction, residents may use hand-held hoses or watering cans for nonessential outdoor watering only during the early morning and evening hours; sprinklers and other unattended irrigation are barred during restricted periods.

Separately, Aquarion Water Company recently joined the Board of Selectmen for a public information session to discuss options for resolving water quality problems affecting its Dover customers, including discolored water and the presence of PFAS. No timeline for fixes was announced.
