Capital Budget Committee hears protective services building needs, approves prior minutes.

Capital Budget Committee · Meeting of February 10, 2026

Dover Capital Budget Committee approves prior minutes, hears protective services building pleas. Police Chief J Vinci and Fire Chief G Smith presented capital requests for fiscal 2027 and the five-year projection through 2031. The Fire Department requested $92,000, chiefly for a new SCBA compressor to replace 24-year-old equipment.

The Police Department sought $100,000 for a new vehicle, preferably an electric crossover to replace the aging Yukon, and noted losses to a tree-crushed cruiser and engine failure with no replacement buffer. Chiefs requested $150,000 for a feasibility study of the Protective Services Building, built in 1978, citing inadequate HVAC, office space, security, sleeping quarters, and garage capacity.
