Board of Selectmen Membership Size Study Committee moves to hire consultant for governance review.
Board of Selectmen · Meeting of February 3, 2026
DOVER — The Board of Selectmen Membership Size Study Committee voted unanimously to hire a consultant to assess whether Dover should expand its Select Board. The committee, chaired ex-officio by Board Chair David M. Haviland with Town Administrator Michael Blanchard also participating, directed Blanchard to contact consultants who have completed similar governance projects in other municipalities and compile cost and scope estimates.
Members reached consensus after reviewing prior work, draft survey questions, and background materials from the original 2022 Town Meeting petition. The next meeting will be scheduled once consultant information is compiled; in the interim, members will refine comparison-community selections and review survey instruments.
